Bible Doctrine Course Directives
The Bible Doctrines course is in two sections.
It will be necessary to satisfactorily complete Doctrines I
(GY105) before Doctrines II (GY106) is begun.
Course Descriptions

GY106
TEXT BOOK: The
main textbook for this course will be: BASIC THEOLOGY
by Charles C. Ryrie (both I & II) and WHAT LOVE by Dave
Hunt (II). Obviously other textbooks will be referred to from
time to time as the course is being completed. The textbook can
be purchased through the College, or the student may purchase
this at another outlet, such as Amazon.com. Obviously, the book
must be in hand before the course of study can be started.
AUXILLARY MATERIAL:
It is assumed that the student will make full use of
material in addition to the textbook in the preparation of
submission requirements. In doing this the student must prepare
an adequate bibliography of all material used. It will not be
necessary to use the standard style footnotes at the bottom of
pages, but any direct quotations must be indicated by the use of
quotation marks in the body of material and accurate notation at
the end of each module. It should be noted by the student that
plagiarism is unethical and unchristian.
USE OF THE BIBLE:
It is obviously necessary to use the Bible to support every
proposition presented. Appropriate verses should be written out
accurately along with their address. Please note that verses
written out are not to be counted as fulfilling the requirements
for a certain number of words or pages for an answer: thus, if
an answer calls for two hundred words, it would be appropriate
to use Bible verses to substantiate the answer, but not count
the number of words of those verses to fulfill the two hundred
word requirement.
SCRIPTURE MEMORISATION:
Scripture memorization is an integral part of any Bible study
course. Two pertinent verses will be assigned for each module.
It is recommended that you begin at once to memorize these
verses and continue to review them throughout the course of
study. At the completion of all written assignments it will be
required that each student meet with a College tutor or
administrator and write out correctly each of the verses.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Each submission must include a coversheet with the formatting as
of the example given. This coversheet will be the source of
record keeping for the College and for the student.
Before you submit your work please check the following:
1. I have reviewed and followed the course submission
instructions as given.
2. I have numbered each page except the coversheet and the
bibliography.
3. I have typed out and underlined the instructions for the
module. This should be the first item on each submission.
4. I have attached a completed coversheet to my submission. A
separate coversheet is needed for each module or for each part
of a module.
5. I have included a self-addressed, stamped envelope of
sufficient size. Make sure the envelope is large enough to
return your evaluated material. Charges for postage and
envelopes, if not included as instructed, will be added to your
College bill.
All papers are to be typewritten and double spaced, using
correct grammar and spelling. Plain text (New Times Romans, size
12) is the accepted font. Work must be neatly presented and in
accordance with the submission requirements of each class. If a
student does not have access to a computer or typewriter,
permission must be gained from the tutor before the first
submission of handwritten work is made.
METHOD OF EVALUATION:
Grading is based upon following the requirements set
out in the modules for each course: a logical approach to the
material, answering of all questions, adequate use of text book
and additional resource material, ability to make application of
and use the material studied, proper summarization of material,
cohesiveness of thought in presenting the material and
conformity to the standard rules of grammar and punctuation.
Grades will be awarded as: Pass, Merit and Distinction.
Please be sure to make duplicates of all work submitted for your
own protection. Baptist Bible College will not be held
responsible for lost or mutilated work.
CONTINUING WORK:
The student MAY NOT submit the second module until the first
module has been returned by the Tutor so that the student can
take note of any mistakes in the preparation of the first
module. After that modules can be completed and sent to the
Tutor as quickly as the student desires.
