MODULE NO. 1: CHRISTOLOGY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

COURSE PURPOSE: To gain a better understanding of the person and work of the Lord Jesus in His relationship to the other two members of the Trinity, including His work of salvation and His relationship to the believer.

MATERIALS: The assigned textbook, BASIC THEOLOGY, by CHARLES RYRIE and REIGN OF THE SERVANT KING, by Joseph Dillow.

REQUIREMENTS: Read chapters 40-46 in the text book then answer these questions from the textbook.

CHAPTER 40: 150 words per question

1. Discuss the differences in and the importance of the
preexistence of Christ and the eternality of Christ.

2. Considering John’s Gospel how do the ‘I AM’
statements of Christ indicate the eternality of Christ?

3. As the Angel of the Lord, how did the pre-existent
Christ reveal Himself?

CHAPTER 41 100 words per question

1. In Isaiah 7.14 what is the importance of the Hebrew
word ‘almah’ and how is this reflected in the New Testament?

2. In Isaiah 9.6 what important distinction is made
concerning Christ and how does this work out in the New Testament?

3. How do the genealogies of Matthew and Luke differ
and how are they alike? What do the differences reveal?

4. Give a brief statement of each of the purposes for
the incarnation and how these purposes affect us.

CHAPTER 42 100 words for questions 1 and 2

1. What is the proof of the deity of the incarnate
Christ?

2. How is the perfect humanity of Christ revealed?

3. Discuss the five points under the Roman Numeral
III. Why is this doctrine so important? 100 words for each point.

4. Write a brief statement concerning each of the false
teachings of this doctrine, clearly showing that you understand the basics of each teaching.

CHAPTER 43 Write at least 200 words for each of the three pictures of Christ as Prophet, Priest and King drawing together the Old Testament prophecies and the New Testament fulfillments of this important doctrine. NOTE: Last sentence but one on page 259 of the text should read KING, not PRIEST.

CHAPTER 44 Briefly discuss Roman Numeral I, the more fully discuss Roman Numeral II, showing how this truth affects our lives generally and your life specifically. 300 words for the question

CHAPTER 45 200 words for each question

1. In discussing the sinlessness of Christ, pay
particular attention to the definition of terms: i.e. impeccability, and the question as to whether Christ could have sinned, but didn’t, or He could not have sinned. Be sure to support your conclusion with Scripture.

2. In what three ways did Christ show that He was
sinless?

CHAPTER 46

1. There are three main points under this subject of
resurrection. Discuss each in at least 150 words.

2. Do the same with the four main points under the
subject of his ascension.

CHAPTER 47 150 words for each question

1. Discuss the three post ascension works of Christ
that are mentioned.

2. How does Christ’s future ministry affect believers and unbelievers?

PERSONAL: Write a paper of at least 200 words describing some way that this study has impacted your life.

NOTE: PLEASE BE SURE TO REFER TO ALL INFORMATION IN THE INTRODUCTORY NOTES TO THIS COURSE. THIS NOTE WILL NOT BE REPEATED, BUT THE INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED FOR EACH MODULE.


MODULE NO. 2 ANTHROPOLOGY MAN

COURSE PURPOSE: To gain an understanding of where we came from, what we are doing here and where we are going: all this in the frame-work of the Bible and the God who created us in His own image..

MATERIAL: The assigned textbook and material by Arthur Custance found under the title, DOORWAY PAPERS, on the internet. This can be downloaded.

REQUIREMENTS: Read chapters 29 through 33 in the text and answer the assigned questions. In the Doorway Papers read the following volumes, writing out one or two sigtnificant statements for each chapter in the volumes.

Volume6 Time and Eternity
Volume 8 Science and Faith
Volume 9 The Flood: Local or Global

CHAPTER NO. 29

1. In a paper of 100 words each, describe the three
views of creation.

2. In another text from the library, (Genesis Flood by
Henry Morris) read at least 100 pages concerning the arguments for and against evolution, considering the outline given in the textbook, as in Roman Numeral II, III and IV.

CHAPTER 30

1. What are two essential ingredients when considering
the question of evolution? How are these two ingredients presented in the Bible?

2. How does the Bible teaching that God, (Elohim) the
Creator is the answer to all of the arguments of evolution?

3. What is meant by ‘ex nihilo’ creation? Discuss this,
using the verses that are mentioned under Roman Numeral III.
4. What is meant by the ‘gap theory”, and what are its
strengths and weaknesses?

5. Discuss the topic of ‘solar days’.

6. The author draws six conclusions form this chapter.
Discuss each of these in at least 100 words for each.

CHAPTER 31

1. The author discusses the Characteristics of Man’s
Creation under three topics. Write out every Scripture verse you can find in the Bible concerning man’s creation.

2. Discuss the topic of ‘man’s image or likeness”.

CHAPTER 32

1. Under Roman Numeral I, discuss the topic of
man as a dichotomous or trichotomous being.

2. Under Roman Numeral II, give a brief paragraph,
with appropriate Scripture verses for each of the topics listed.

CHAPTER 33

1. Carefully read and summarize in a short paragraph
each of the points in the introduction to this chapter.

2. Discuss the subject of Adam’s temptation, as given
in the text.

3. Using appropriate Scripture verses, discuss the
temptation and Eve’s rationalization.

4. Write a short paragraph on each aspect of the
penalty of Adam’s disobedience.

PERSONAL: Write a paper of at least two hundred words on how the study of this doctrine has impacted your life.



MODULE NO. 3: HAMARTIOLOGY SIN

COURSE PURPOSE: To better understand the origin, scope and meaning of sin, where it came from, how it affects us, what its eternal results are and how God feels about it .

MATERIALS: The assigned text book, REIGN OF THE SERVANT KING, by Joseph Dillow, and the Word of God.

REQUIREMENTS: Read chapters 34 through 39 and answer the questions.

CHAPTER 34

1. Discuss, in at least 50 words for each, the eight
words in the Old Testament that are translated as ‘sin’. Be sure to use appropriate word study books: THEOLOGICAL DICTIONARY OF OLD TESTAMENT WORDS

2. Do the same for each of the New Testament words
dealing with the topic of sin.

3. Write a page of at least 100 words to define sin.

CHAPTER 35

1. The author has named sixteen specific sins. Write at
least 100 words for each, expanding on what the author has said and what the Bible reveals. This will require the use of word study books and dictionaries.

2. In addition to specifically named sins in the Bible
there are various categories of sin. Use at least 100 words to describe each listed in the text.

3. Write out at least ten verses for each of the sources
of sin as given in the text.

4. Write at least 50 words for each of the consequences
of sin, as given in the text.

5. Expand on the subject of the forgiveness of sin.
Write at least 200 words on this subject.

CHAPTER 36

1. Write at least 100 words for each of the topics under
Roman Numerals I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII.

CHAPTER 37

1. Expand on the topic of imputation. Please use
dictionaries and word study books.

2. Do the same for the topic of Three Basic
Imputations, writing 100 words each for A, B, C.

3. Discuss in 200 words the topic of the Imputation of
Adam’s Sin.

4. In 100 words for each, discuss the topics under
Roman Numerals IV, V, VI.

CHAPTER 38

1. In 100 words, discuss the Scriptural evidence for
personal sins.

2. Discuss in 100 words for each letter, the
characteristics of personal sins.

5. In 100 words for each, discuss Roman Numerals III,
IV, V.

CHAPTER 39

1. In 100 words, discuss the biblical standard for
the believer.

2. Discuss the subject under Roman Numeral II in at
least 300 words.

3. In 200 words discuss the Penalties for Sin.

4. Do the same for the Preventatives for Sin.

MEMORY VERSES: Jeremiah 17.9 Romans 3.20

PERSONAL: Write a paper of at least two hundred words on how the study of this doctrine has impacted your life.



MODULE NO. 4: ANGELOLOGY ANGELS

COURSE PURPOSE: To better understand the creation of angels, the fall of
some, the obedience and work of others in relation to
the individual, the nation of Israel and the Church, as
well as seeing some of their ministry in end time events.

MATERIALS: The assigned text book, your Bible and the book,
entitled THE MYSTERY AND MINISTRY OF
ANGELS, by Herbert Lockyer.

REQUIREMENTS: Read chapters 17 through 21 and answer the questions
as given.

CHAPTER 17

1. How does man’s knowledge limit him from knowing,
or enable him to know all there is to know about the
universe?

2. Briefly discuss the three significant characteristics
about the existence of angels.

3. Briefly discuss the Old Testament view of angels.

4. Do the same for the New Testament.

5. How did Christ experience the ministry of angels, and how does this experience deal with the criticism, or even the favorable testimony of men?

CHAPTER 18

1. Using the book by Lockyer, deal with each of the
four four sub-points in this chapter, writing at least
150 words each.

CHAPTER 19

1. In this chapter, deal with each of the five sub-points,
writing at least 150 words for each.

CHAPTER 20
1. Under the title, RANKING OF ANGELS, write 100 words giving details of each of the ranks.

2. Deal with the heading, PARTICULAR
ANGELS, in the same way.

CHAPTER 21

1. Write a sentence or two, in your own words
concerning the relation of angels to God.

2. Do the same for Roman Numeral II.

3. Under Roman Numeral III, several points are listed
under under each of the capital letters. Deal with
each of these points, in your own words.
4. Under Roman Numeral VI, deal with each of the
five points, using at least four Scripture texts to
support each point.

MODULE NO. 5: EXCHATOLOGY LAST THINGS

COURSE PURPOSE: To understand something of the various systems of
eschatology, to become familiar with the blessed truth
of the pre-millennial system of biblical prophecy, and to
see the difference between God’s program for the
Church, for Israel and for the unbeliever.

MATERIALS: The assigned text book, the book, THE BASIS OF THE
PREMILLENNIAL FAITH, by Charles Ryrie and
your Bible.

REQUIREMENTS: Read chapters 77 through 92 and answer the questions
for each of these chapters.

MEMORY VERSES: II Corinthians 4.17 II Timothy 3.16-17

CHAPTER 77

1. Carefully read this chapter and write out one
of two careful statements for each of the four main points

CHAPTER 78

1. Under Roman Numeral I, point out four statements that are right or wrong in Boettner’s statement, indicating which you think is right or wrong.

2. Write out one Bible verse for proving or disproving each of the statements under Roman Numeral II, indicating which you think the verse does.

3. Carefully read the remainder of this chapter.

CHAPTER 79

1. Briefly summarize each of the four main points under Roman Numeral II.

2. State clearly the hermeneutical principles of
a-millennialism and pre-millennialism as outlined in Roman Numeral III. Carefully read pages 34-46 in the book, BASIS OF THE PREMILLENNIAL FAITH, by Charles Ryrie.

3. Contrast the a-millennial teaching of Daniel 9.24-
27 with that of pre-millenialism.

4. Under Roman Numeral V, letter C, briefly discuss the teachings of Luther and Calvin.

CHAPTER 80

1. In finding a working definition of pre- millennialism, consult at least two other books and in your own words, write out a biblical definition.

2. Using Ryries’ BASIS OF THE PREMILLENNIAL FAITH, carefully read pages 17-33.

CHAPTER 81

1. In your own words, state why the covenant with Abraham is so important.

2. In the New Testament find several verses that indicate the fulfillment of the personal promises to Abraham.

3. In the New Testament find several verses that indicated the fulfillment of the universal promises to Abraham.

4. In the New Testament find several verses that indicate the fulfillment of the national promises to Abraham.

` 5. Discuss the passage of Scripture, Genesis 15.9-17 in
regard to its importance concerning the Abrahamic Covenant.

6. In your own words, state four viewpoints of the a-millennial position and show Scripture verses to support or refute that viewpoint.

7. How is the pre-millennial viewpoint more consistent with Scripture?


CHAPTER 82

1. How is it possible to state that the Abrahamic and Davidic covenants are eternal when there has obviously not been a king on the throne through all these many years?

2. Discuss the conditionality of the promises as related to Solomon.

3. Copy out each of the Old Testament verses
mentioned under Roman Numeral II and give a statement of explanation in your own words.

4. In your own words, state the crucial question of
New Testament fulfillment of the covenant promises and explain how the Jewish people would have looked at these promises. Consider the following verses: Matthew 3.1-2; 2.2; 5.20; Luke 1.31-32 and Acts 1.6-8.

5. Discuss the matter or how the preaching of Christ reflected the Old Testament promises and how He expected them to be fulfilled.

CHAPTER 83

1. In 100 words discuss the Increasing Apostasy as a fulfillment of Scripture.

2. How do the mentioned Scripture verses show the preparation for the Ecumenical Church?

3. In 200 words discuss the rapture of the church, under Roman Numeral II.

4. In 200 words discuss the difference between the rapture of the church and the revelation of Christ?

CHAPTER 84

1. Discuss, with appropriate texts, each of the paragraphs under Roman Numeral II.

2. In at least 100 words for each, discuss the seven seal judgements.

3. In at least 200 words, discuss the position of the redeemed during the Tribulation.

4. How do Egypt and Russia fit into the events of the Tribulation?

5. Using at least 100 words for each sub-point, discuss the programme of the Anti-Christ.

6. Using at least 50 words for each, discuss the seven trumpet judgements of the Tribulation.

7. Using at least 50 words for each, discuss the seven bowl judgements of the Tribulation.

7. Using at least 200 words, discuss Armageddon.

CHAPTER 85.

1. Concerning the subject, using the three passages of Scripture mentioned in Roman Numeral I, jot down three separate truths from each one.

2. Name the four views of the rapture held by the pre-millennialists and write out one Scripture verse for each one.

3. What is the main premis of the partial rapture view?

4. Concerning the Theological Framework of this view, what is the three-fold position that is held?

5. How do the holders of this view work out their
biblical support for this? Be sure to explain their view using at least one of the Scripture verses held for each point.

6. Using the correct Scripture texts, explain the four problems mentioned concerning this view.
