It is the student’s responsibility to
maintain satisfactory progress toward a certificate in
accordance with the regularly prescribed standards in this
institution. On a basis of 4.0 the specific standards
are:
-
A 1.7 grade point average the full year
(three terms).
-
A 2.0 grade point average at midyear the
second year.
-
A cumulative average of 2.0 thereafter.
Student failing to meet these standards will
be placed on academic probation and will be asked to
withdraw at the close of the following term if improvement
is not demonstrated.
Any student who maintains less than a 2.0 grade point
average will be required to drop all extracurricular
activities. A 2.0 grade point average is required for
completion of the certificate.
Grades will be assigned as follows:
A 100-94 D 77-70
B 93-86 F Below 70
C 85-78
All papers are to be typewritten and double
spaced using correct grammar and spelling. Plain text
(New Times Roman size 12) is the accepted font. They
must be neatly presented and on time. The MLA style of
documentation is to be used. Instruction for preparation and
presentation of papers is given in the required English
Class GY102.
The lecturer, after consultation with the Academic Dean, may
feel that an individual situation warrants allowing a
student to do extra work to bring a failing grade to a
passing grade of “D”. In such a situation, the extra
work must be completed and submitted within two weeks of the
end of term.
All incomplete assignments must be completed and submitted
within two weeks of the end of the same term to receive a
passing grade. In this situation, the highest possible
grade that can be awarded is a “B”. All late
assignments will be penalised by one letter grade.
