Academic Policies

Adding or Dropping Courses
If a student drops a class after the first 30% or total class time, a “Withdraw Passing” or “Withdraw Failing” will be placed on the permanent record. No refund will be given on tuition after this time.

When a student wishes to drop or add a class, he must first go to his lecturer and Principal for approval.

Children in Classes
Children are not to be taken to classes for any reason.  In case of illnesses other child care must be arranged.

Absence Policy
An excused absence is illness, a death in the family, or providential hindrance. All missed lecture notes and course work must be completed. Unexcused absences are not allowed.

Cheating/Plagiarism
Any student found cheating in a course is to be dismissed from that course with a failing grade. The student’s discipline records will reflect their involvement. Any further episodes could result in dismissal from the College.

Each student is responsible for submitting their own work, and any effort to collaborate or plagiarize will result in disciplinary consequences. Plagiarism of any kind will automatically result in a failing grade in the course.

Plagiarism is using another’s work as your own.

Withdrawal from the College
In the event that a student wishes to withdraw from the College, he/she must confer with the Dean of Students and the Principal prior to submitting a written request to the Dean of Students and the Principal.

Lectures
All evening lectures begin promptly at 6 p.m. Students are required to arrive promptly. A late arrival will be assessed if the student arrives after the register has been taken. Three late arrivals will result in one absence.

Each student will be required to purchase the textbook which accompanies the course at the beginning of term. Failure to purchase textbooks in a timely manner may result in a lower mark for the course. Husbands and wives on the same course may share a textbook. However, if a workbook is required both will need a separate book.

Some courses may not have an accompanying textbook or available collateral reading. In such cases the lecturer will assign work to meet the course requirements.

Courses of Study
All courses specified are necessary. Choice, when available, must be indicated by the Principal’s office.

All courses are pursued to completion during an entire term unless announcement to the contrary is made. The courses must be taken in the order specified unless permission is granted by the Principal’s office.
