Course Descriptions

LIFE OF CHRIST


This study is considered foundational for all other New Testament studies. Christ’s life ministry in His incarnation is examined harmonically and chronologically. The major emphasis is developing an understanding of the unfolding of Christ’s mission both as the Messiah and Saviour.

ENGLISH COMMUNICATION


This course covers the basic principles of English emphasising the following; parts of speech, mechanics, grammar, vocabulary, syntax, and spelling. This course provides practice in writing various types of essays and is foundational for the standards of work at BBC.

METHODS OF BIBLE TEACHING


This course prepares teachers for communicating God’s Word. It considers purposeful Bible study, preparation of aims, laws of teaching, application of lessons, and developing the various methods of lesson presentation.

OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY


This course is divided over each term.
A. The first class studies the first five books of the Old Testament. It is a study of the early history of God’s people. Emphasis is given to the periods of Abraham and Moses.
B. The second class studies the books of Joshua, Judges and Ruth
C. The third class incorporates the period of Samuel, the Kings, and Nehemiah.

DOCTRINE I


This course includes the fundamentals of the major doctrines of theology. The areas of study are Bibliology, Theology Proper, Pneumatology, Soteriology, and Ecclesiology. It gives a general understanding of Bible doctrines and lays a foundation for further study.

DOCTRINE II


This course is a continuation of Doctrine I and includes Christology, Anthropology, Hamartiology, Angelology, and Eschatology.

LIFE OF PAUL


A historical study of the life of Paul is made with reference to the geography of his missionary journeys. His methods and accomplishments in establishing churches are a major emphasis. Each epistle is viewed in the context in which it was written. Special emphasis is also given to the occasion, purpose, and characteristics of each epistle.

PERSONAL EVANGELISM


A student learns how to use the Scriptures in leading people to Christ. Emphasis is placed on the presentation of the Gospel in order to win people to Christ.

YOUTH MINISTRIES


Focus of the class is on how to reach teenagers with the gospel and how to build a youth ministry in the local church. Camp, activities, teaching and relational skills will be discussed.

BAPTIST HISTORY


This course is a study of the Anabaptist of the pre-Reformation and Reformation periods with emphasis on its principles, development, and impacts.
